Pathologic, the remake of Ice-Pick Lodge’s ruthless and critically acclaimed Russian survival adventure from 2005, allows you to take on the role of any of three doctors in order to overcome the invisible evil in the remote steppe town in which the game takes place and inside your own body. It won’t be easy. First and foremost you’ll need to avoid death by not succumbing to the disease, or to bandits, hunger, and fatigue
You’ll be scavenging and bartering for bullets, bread and milk. You’ll be hard-pressed for time, and as days fly by it will become increasingly more difficult to evaluate if you can share a pack of pills with a stranger in need or if you should keep it for yourself to survive longer.

Your untimely death would mean the end of the Town. The Army is already here, ready to burn it to the ground so that the Plague doesn’t spread.

But there are so many people here with their thoughts, ideas, and beliefs; there are children who play strange games, there are physically impossible buildings, obscure steppe traditions, and mysterious creatures. Sooner or later all of them will confide their deepest secrets in you. Perhaps that’s reason enough to make a miracle happen and save the Town.

Pathologic will be released in 2016 for Mac, Windows, PlayStation 4, XBox One, and Linux. The game has achieved 87% of its $250,000 Kickstarter goal but still needs your support. The campaign runs until October 7, 2014.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
