Developer Artflex Mundi describes Irony Curtain as a “love letter to point-and-clicks.”
The location is Matryoshka. The year is 1951. You are Evan, a goofy, low-ranking journalist who is drawn into espionage in a stand-off between two Cold War powers. This particular Cold War, however, takes place in an alternate reality unbound by historical accuracy. Anything can happen.
Irony Curtain takes inspiration from classic adventure games (Lucas Arts, Daedalic) and promises “pure point-and-click fun.” You’ll encounter sleeper spies, stolen secrets, world-domination plots and layers of humor. You’ll witness unpredictable twists and turns
Hey! What’s that alligator doing in the bathroom?
The game features 21 hand-painted locations and “1,951 cleverly sneaked-in easter eggs.” It’s voiced in English, with subtitles in Polish and German.
Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love is set to be released on Windows, Mac and Steam OS + Linux tomorrow, May 16th. It will be available on Steam and GOG. Planned console versions (PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch) have been pushed back a few weeks to preclude excessive work hours on the part of the development team.
Mr. Supreme Leader, tear down that curtain!
