The Blind Prophet is a hand-drawn point-and-click adventure. But if you’re looking for warm-and-fuzzy, you’ll need to look elsewhere.
As the Apostle Bartholomeus, you’ve been chosen by God to protect humanity from the corruption of demonic influence. But this time, it will not be as easy as it should be… Something has gone very wrong.
The narrative is set in the corrupted city of Rotbork in a blunt and mature universe. It will be up to you to eradicate a Great Evil. The game’s strong storyline incorporates philosophy, redemption and moral struggle along with a sense of fluidity and a dark ambience. The narration is driven by ethical choices.
Mechanics are traditional point-and-click; there will also be plenty of puzzles to solve and a world of interesting characters with whom to interact.
Developer ARS GOETIA consists mainly of one guy: 25-year-old Baptiste Miny. Schooled in art, Baptiste is basically self-taught when it comes to game design. Among his inspirations for The Blind Prophet are Blade Runner, The Last Door, Broken Sword, Gabriel Knight and classic LucasArts games.
The Blind Prophet‘s visual/artistic design has been inspired by such European and American comic book artists as Frank Miller (Sin City), Mike Mignola (Hell Boy), Moebius and Sergio Toppi. As you probably already know, a comic book style isn’t synonymous with being funny. The Blind Prophet is not funny.
Originally in development for Windows, the game will also be ported to Mac for the initial release sometime in 2019. Looking ahead, Switch, PS4, Xbox One, Android and iOS versions will launch at a later date, depending on the success of the Kickstarter campaign.
Speaking of which, if you like what you see, grab some money, go on over to Kickstarter and give the game your backing. The campaign will run for another five days.
