Sometimes, I get really confused. There’s Hell House, House on Haunted Hill, The Haunting of Hill House and lots of other titles containing the words “hell,” “house,” “haunting,” haunted.”

And then there’s At the Mountains of Madness, Chronicle of Innsmouth: Mountains of Madness and In The Mouth of Madness.

Madness, madness, madness.

Now we have Mansions of Madness: Mother’s Embrace. Yes, that’s “Mansions,” not “Mountains,” although I kept calling it “Mountains” while writing this article.

In any event, Mansions of Madness is an upcoming horror/mystery adventure from LuckyHammers/Asmodee Digital that’s based on the award-winning board game of the same name. Inspired by the works of Lovecraft, Mansions of Madness will have you controlling a team of up to three investigators in a narrative that unfolds in both Arkham and New Orleans.

Throughout your journey you will uncover a mystery that brings about revelations and realizations that will leave you thoroughly shaken. The game will be infused with horror, from the music, sound and visual effects to the creatures and places you will visit.

According to Asmodee Digital, …we don’t do jump scares here. We’re all about the lingering dread, the constant fear of what is to come.

Horrific Lovecraftian creatures will confront you as the true horror of what is really happening becomes apparent and your mind slowly slips away.

Doesn’t that sound wonderful?

Mansions of Madness: Mother’s Embrace is to be released for Windows on Steam  in Q2 2019. Asmodee promises to reveal more about the game between now and then, so stay tuned.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
