Daemon_9 Wants to Scare You on Halloween
Curio Productions offers up a FMV interactive supernatural mystery that combines the thrill of a found-footage horror movie with the mystery-solving challenge of games like Her Story
For the most part, Curio Productions is just one person: Jeffrey Jackson. He’s created Daemon_9 practically single-handedly. This includes the writing, directing and editing of full-motion video segments as well as tackling the game programming. He’s funded development out of his own pocket.
According to Jackson, I’ve always been a guy who wears a lot of hats, so while it may not have been the most time-efficient way to create Daemon_9, I feel I know every inch of it intrinsically. That allows me to make a richer, more tightly integrated story experience. The game can be called a Full-Motion Video game and an ARG (Alternate Reality Game), but in reality it is a new storytelling paradigm, part movie, part game, part augmented reality experience.
In Daemon_9, a young woman named Morgan Shane has disappeared, after allegedly murdering her friend and college roommate Anna Handricks. It’s up to you to discover the truth.
Can you unravel the mystery by sifting through a hard drive backup copy, watching found videos, analyzing police documents and venturing out to the web to fill in the backstory? More importantly, will you be able to get to the bottom of things before the dark force that took control of Morgan finds you?
Daemon_9 will be released October 31st on Steam for Windows, Mac and SteamOS + Linux.
