Part 2 gives an overview to a number of gameplay changes. Blackguards is set in the universe of The Dark Eye, a popular German tabletop role-playing system whose rulebook is incorporated into the game.

Blackguards 2 is a strategy RPG that takes place in the universe of The Dark Eye, a popular German tabletop role-playing system whose rulebook is incorporated into the game. The new Blackguards 2 video focuses on a number of gameplay changes in Daedalic’s follow-up to Blackguards which was released on November 6th, 2013. 

Blackguards 2 is scheduled for release on January 20th, 2015 for PC and Mac.

Among the improvements highlighted:

  • Addition of an open strategy map where the player must decide which area to tackle next. This also means that the player has to defend territories they control. Player can protect areas by setting traps, creating obstacles, and assigning troops to guard and secure locations.
  • The ability of the player to add up to 9 mercenaries which can be hired or freed. These mercenaries aren’t just warriors, but can include such classes as mages and assassins. The player will have to decide how best to deploy their mercenaries as well as their 4 heroes.
  • The ability to gather information on your enemies through prisoner interrogation or by sending out spies. 
  • Combat rules have been changed and are presented in a more user-friendly way.
