Founded in 2015, Lantern Studio is a small indie developer consisting of four people: Beidi Guo (Visual Artist), Fox (Project Manager), Wang Guan (Programmer) and Wang Qian (Composer). LUNA – The Shadow Dust is the studio’s first game and, so far, it’s lookin’ fine!

After a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2016, LUNA was Greenlit and has been in development since. The game will be released in Summer 2019, exact date TBD.

A story-driven point-and-click adventure, LUNA is somewhat unique in that it has no dialog. This has been replaced by a series of stylized hand-drawn cinematics. So you’ll be watching rather than reading (plus, this works with any language!). And you’ll be controlling two characters at the same time, animated frame-by-frame.

The game’s visual style is somewhat reminiscent of Amanita Design (Samorost series, machinarium, botanicula, chuchel). This is definitely not a bad thing!

In the game’s narrative, a young boy and his companion solve puzzles and trace back old memories while exploring a broken magical world that awaits illumination. You will experience an emotional journey of courage and hope.

And get ready for puzzles that are full of surprises. They will test your logic, observation skills, reaction speed, music sensibility and imagination.

The game’s music is simply beautiful. Here is LUNA‘s theme music performed on piano by composer Wang Qian:

LUNA – The Shadow Dust is to be released on Windows, Mac and Linux in Summer 2019, exact date TBD. Android and iOS versions are also TBD.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
