For the sake of simplicity I will dispense with “Mysterious Journey,” “Chameleon” and anything else that may have crept into the titles of these games. I’ll be using Schizm, Schizm 2 and Schizm 3. Enough said.

I must admit I did a double-take when I first saw the title Schizm 3. Could it be, 15 years after the release of Schizm 2, that a third game was in the works? Yes, it could be. It’s true.

Schizm 3 will return players to the planet Argilus — where Schizm is set — but this time, as tourists. Once again, there will be two characters to play: Amia and Bogard. Rather than being alone, however, you’ll meet other tourists as well as residents.

The planet has changed since the first game. It’s still beautiful and idyllic, but it’s also disturbed by dangerous, unexplained phenomena. There are rumors of a machine called Fist of Nemezis.

Argilus also exists in two parallel (but not identical) dimensions. Amia will be in one dimension; Bogard will be in the other.

There will be plenty of puzzles to solve. Gameplay is non-linear. There will be “an electronic guide, whose help may turn out to be crucial in difficult situations.”

Schizm 3 is to be released on Windows (visit the Steam page). It’s being constructed with the Unreal Engine by Polish developer Detalion. The only release date we have so far is “Coming Soon.”

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
