The Last Day of June to Arrive the Last Day of August
Ovosonico and 505 Games ask: What would you do to save the one you love?
The Last Day of June, a game about love and loss, is designed to impart a profound interactive experience. Inspired by the song “Gone Home” by Steven Wilson — who also took part in the game’s creation — it features a bittersweet story presented in a distinctive artistic style.
You’ll accompany Carl and June as they go on a pleasure trip to their favorite spot. But what’s to be an idyllic outing turns tragic. They are in a car crash and June is killed.
A grieving Carl makes the discovery that through June’s paintings, he’s able to travel through time. This provides a way for him to alter events and possibly save her life. He must choose wisely, however, and bear responsibility for the consequences his choices set in motion — some unintentional, some unforeseen.
The Last Day of June is presented as a cinematic experience in which the player will solve emotionally challenging puzzles. It asks the question: “What would you do to save the one you love?”
Massimo Guarini, founder and CEO, Ovosonico: With Last Day of June, my vision is to create a riveting emotional experience that connects with the broader audience of human beings. People feel comfortable broadly saying they don’t like videogames without ever really trying them, but never say that about movies or music or art – there’s always something they can identify with. I believe games can be just as universal and relatable, and that’s what we’re attempting to show with this project.
The game is to be released August 31st on Windows and PS4 and will carry a time-limited discount.
