Eastshade, an Open-World Exploration Game

Become an artist, discover mysteries and uncover secrets in a world of beauty and mystery

Category: Upcoming Release

Genre: Open-World Adventure
Developed and Published by: Eastshade Studios
Release Date: TBD
Platform: Windows

You are a traveling painter, exploring the island of Eastshade. Capture the world on canvas using your artist’s easel. Talk to the inhabitants to learn about their lives. Make friends and help those in need. Discover mysteries and uncover secrets about the land. Surmount natural impasses to reach forgotten places. Experience how your actions impact the world around you.

Eastshade has no overarching story. Instead, it offers many small, interwoven stories for you to discover on the island of Eastshade.

You’ll interact with the island’s inhabitants, paint pictures of your surroundings to use as barter, unlock secrets and find ways to overcome obstacles. Your actions and decisions will influence the game’s progression.

Already in development two years, Eastshade is Eastshade Studio’s debut title. And BTW, the developer wants to make it clear that this is not a walking simulator. It’s a traveling painter simulator. (No it isn’t — I’m joking.) The game will offer features that typically aren’t present in walking simulators, such as mechanics, goals, and a clear sense of direction and progression.

Eastshade will be released on PC/Windows, with consoles to follow. A launch date is TBD.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
