Hollow Knight is a 2D action/adventure/platformer in the style of Metroid, Zelda 2 and Faxanadu. Its emphasis is on skill and exploration.

The game takes place in a vast, connected underground world known as Hallownest. It’s a beautiful, eerie world populated by insects and heroes.

As the enigmatic title character you’ll explore the world’s depths, discover its mysteries and unravel its evils. You’ll encounter weird characters and quirky townsfolk, find hidden secrets, and venture into the minds of friends and enemies.

Hallow Knight features gameplay that’s difficult but fair. Should you want a greater challenge, the game will offer hidden areas with tougher challenges and battles.

Hallow Knight is Team Cherry’s first effort. They hope to raise $35,000 AUD on Kickstarter by December 18, 2014. The game also appears on Steam Greenlight.

Hallow Knight will be released on PC, Mac and Linux. The projected release date — dependent on Kickstarter — is Q2 2015.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal.
