Imagine a man committing suicide by stabbing himself in the back 14 times while drinking coffee. Imagine that this is way too complex to be handled by police. Imagine that only one detective duo is smart enough to solve the murder mystery: Detective Case and Clown Bot.

There you have Murder in the Hotel Lisbon, a game that thrusts the two detectives into a network of relationships that would take at least 14 clairvoyants, five prophets capable of predicting the end of the world and three palm-reading gypsies to guess the final outcome.

The rough and rude Detective Case is actually known as the world’s worst detective. Witnesses would rather be run over by a slow-moving freight train than be interrogated by him.

Clown Bot is working with Detective Case only until he can find a circus to join. Unfortunately, the chance of this happening is bleak, as he’s afraid of children. Fortunately, he doesn’t sleep, so he’s able to also work at night in a local bar doing stand-up comedy.

Murder in the Hotel Lisbon is built using pixel art and runs at a native resolution of 256×192, as used by the old ZX Spectrum 48k and not-so-old Nintendo DS. A trailer will be released in September 2013.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
