Pine is a game about evolution, adventure and life. It began as student project, received a good reception and lots of encouragement, and blossomed into a full commercial undertaking.

The game has been inspired by the Zelda series, Shadow of Mordor, Fable and Bloodbourne. It takes place on Albamare, a vast island of mystery. It’s a world in which humans have never reached the top of the food chain, and only the fittest survive.

Step into the shoes of Hue, a frightened but brave adolescent who is a member of one of the last remaining human tribes on the island. As its inhabitants fight for survival, you’ll go about finding the tribe a new home in which it can endure.

The game features dynamic weather and day/night cycles that can affect characters’ movements and actions. Fantastic tools such as an igniter, airglider and cllmbing axes will become available to you as you progress through the game.

Your enemies will learn from your patterns of action and play style. They will physically evolve to oppose you. Events will occur across the island regardless of your behavior or location.

With every encounter and interaction, you will learn more about the various species that inhabit the island. Your decisions will alter the course of what Albamare will become.

Pine was Greenlit in a mere 72 hours. Twirlbound has launched a Kickstarter campaign for the game that runs until April 10th. Fifty percent of the €100,000 base goal has already been achieved.

If all goes well, Pine will be released on Windows, Mac and Linux in Q4 2018. Depending on the success of the Kickstarter campaign, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Switch may be added. Twirlbound would be most appreciative of your backing.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
