Dreadlocks Changes Ghost Theory Engine From Unity3D to CryEngine
The Kickstarter-funded game is also seeking additional backing from Crytek’s “million-dollar” Indie Dev Fund
Horror Adventure Ghost Theory to Re-Materialize on Kickstarter This Month – April 5, 2016
Indie developer Dreadlocks has officially announced they’re transferring development of Ghost Theory from Unity3D to CryEngine.
Dreadlocks: While trying to finalize the demo we came to the realization that Unity3D is simply not the right engine for a project of Ghost Theory’s scale. We were facing so many issues even at the demo level that it just made sense to look for an alternative for the full game. So, at the moment we’re mid-process in transferring everything from Unity3D to CryEngine.
Crytek has also advised them to submit the game to its “million-dollar” Indie Dev Fund, and they have done so.
Dreadlocks: You guessed it – now we need your help again, backers. It’s not much but could make loads of difference – all you have to do is create an account at Crytek and place your vote for Ghost Theory. In order to be awarded their Indie Development Fund, we need to gather as many points as possible. We need to stand out. So, please help get us there, backers! Any extra funds mean extra resources we can use to make Ghost Theory the way we – and you – want it to be.
The game is also available for pre-order in further support of its funding.
Ghost Theory is a first-person psychological horror adventure designed to be a serious take on ghost-hunting and paranormal research. It will offer strong narrative themes, a genuine horror atmosphere and endless gameplay opportunities.
Dreadlocks has secured the rights to several authentically haunted locations as well as their associated histories for use in the game. Inspiration will also be drawn from various horror movies and stories.
Ghost Theory will be released on Windows, Mac, Linux, Xbox One and PS4 at a date TBD. And don’t forget to give the game your vote on Crytek’s “million-dollar” Indie Dev Fund.
