Lovecraft Tales is set in the dark universe created by H.P. Lovecraft. It’s a classical point-and-click horror adventure with survival and RPG elements. The game is based on the Lovecraft story The Whisperer in Darkness.

The game’s open world is populated with dark secrets, clandestine cults and atrocious cosmic beings. It will feature a day-night cycle and advanced player parameters such as insanity and hunger.

It will take place in beautiful hand-painted 2D environments inspired by 19th century paintings of artists such as Caspar David Friedrich. The game’s story will be non-linear.

The player will face difficult choices and will have to interpret the narrative through loosely connected notes, newspaper articles and letters. IOW, Lovecraft Tales won’t be holding your hand.

Death will be possible, either permanently or otherwise. Different game modes will be offered in order to satisfy both hardcore and more casual players.

Lovecraft Tales will also be episodic. An Indiegogo campaign for Episode One is in progress and will run for a month. A playable pre-alpha demo may be downloaded from the page. Developer CVLT is looking to raise at least $17,000. The plan is to release the episode for Windows, Mac and Linux at a date TBD.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
