InSomnia, a dystopian dieselpunk RPG from indie developer Studio MONO, has returned to Kickstarter to secure the funds required to complete the game.

Anatoliy Guyduk, lead developer, Studio MONO: It was no easy decision to return to Kickstarter. After evaluating the progress made on the project, thanks to the funds from our previous Kickstarter campaign and the over £100,000 we’ve spent out of our own pockets, we’ve got to a point where we need additional funding. The money’s for one final push to take the game past the current Prologue Chapter we have released to the public.

We switched from Ogre 3D to UE4 and are thrilled with the improvements in both the visuals and the performance of the game. The Prologue Chapter, which is up to four hours long, depending on how much you explore and do, will show you how passionate we all are for InSomnia. We hope that you’ll support us in our dieselpunk-inspired journey one last time!

InSomnia is dystopian vision set in a murky, retro-futuristic style. The game takes place on a colossal, semi-deserted interplanetary space station. Having left its dying planet behind, this space metropolis and its inhabitants have been moving towards the distant, ghost-like Evacuation Point for the past 400 years, where the descendants of the once great people hope to start the history of mankind over.

Game Features
•Multi-layered role playing game
•Dark retro-futuristic setting
•Hardcore gameplay
•Non-linear story
•Colossal space metropolis to explore
•Realistic combat system
•Generated quests and events
•Atmospheric ambient soundtrack

The aim of the Prologue Chapter is to introduce players to the many mechanics of the final game. However, it’s an alpha version; many aspects will be changed in the future. Within the Prologue are elements that will teach players the prehistory of InSomnia and allow them to become familiar with controls and combat situations, and introduce the game’s world, Object 6.

The Kickstarter campaign will run until May 27th. InSomnia has been Greenlit and will be released on Windows, Mac and Linux at a date TBD.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal.
