Funded through Kickstarter and now Greenlit, Grail to the Thief is an interactive audio adventure for Windows, Mac and Linux that can be played using only sound. However, even though it’s been designed with the needs of the blind and visually impaired in mind, the game can be enjoyed by everyone.

Players will become immersed in an experience in which he or she will always be fully aware of what’s happening through the use of voice-overs, sound effects, ambient sound and music.

Grail to the Thief is a nostalgic throwback to childhood favorites such as Zork, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Day of the Tentacle and Grim Fandango. It also draws inspiration from old BBC radio dramas and the movie Time Bandits.

The game stars Hank Krang, a dirty thief from the near future. A poker game nets him a self-aware time machine called the Time Excursion Digital Interface, or TEDI.

Being the nefarious type, he decides to use TEDI to travel through time and steal priceless artifacts, and travels to Arthurian times in search of the Holy Grail.   Grail to the Thief will be available for PC, Mac and Linux; stay tuned for a firm release date.

Meanwhile, if you’re so inclined, you can download a ten-minute demo (also for PC, Mac and Linux) by clicking here.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
