Geek Beach, a small team of six based in the UK, has just launched a Greenlight campaign for OreLight. It’s the game they’ve always wanted to create: a dungeon-crawling, open-world, multiplayer RPG with crafting, mining, base building and…er…stabbing.
The world of OreLight is split into multiple areas, each with its own procedurally-generated world. Each world includes dungeons, camps, forests, skeletons and “a bunch of other OREsome stuff.”
Everything in OreLight can be dug up, replaced or moved. You’ll be able to build anything from a small hut to an entire town.
Be a Warlock, Swordsman, Blacksmith, King, Archer, Robot Archer, Rogue, you name it. Assume the appearance of a fire-spitting marauder. Play and look the way you want.
Use Swords, Bows, Magic, Traps and Cannons to protect your base. Swap, steal, farm, find, loot, lose, find again.
Geek Beach: The AI is a key aspect of the game, we wanted the game to feel more like a game so the AI verges on breaking the 4th wall with their random conversations about daily life as a dungeon minion. AI wander around, have conversations with each other, use doors, shout for assistance, hunt you down, steal your stuff or just get so overwhelmed by your furious stabbing powers that they give up and flee. AI isn’t the only thing to worry about, OreLight was built for multiplayer so watch your back and keep an eye on your loot.
OreLight will be released on PC, Mac and Linux later in 2015. PS4, Xbox One and other platforms are also a possibility.
Now get over to Greenlight and vote. Uh, please.
