Bolt Riley – A Reggae Adventure Chapter 1 tells the story of a young man growing up in a very poor area of Kingston, Jamaica. He loves music — reggae in particular — and wants to become a singer.
Bolt Riley is a collaborative effort by Lori and Corey Cole, creators of the Quest for Glory series, and indie developer Adventure Mob. They’ve returned to Kickstarter with a 7-day campaign to raise the money required to finish the game.
As Bolt, players will discover inspiration, write great songs and assemble a talented group of musicians. Bolt must also deal with gang members who try to draw him into the world of crime.
Choose a path of peace and confront the violent environment in which Bolt lives. Help townsfolk, reunite families, help out an old lady with a cat and bring joy and harmony to Bolt’s neighbors.
Oded Sharon, Adventure Mob’s CEO: “We’ve decided to experiment with crowdfunding with this short campaign. Most of the funds in a Kickstarter campaign comes from the first 3 days and last 48 hours of the campaign, while in the middle there are a bunch of very slow days that are really stressful for the campaign owner, so I decided – why not just take these out and focus on the start and end of the campaign? So far it seems like it’s working. We’re already at an amazing 30% of the funding goal, and that’s only after one day.”
Sharon continues, “In this harsh time of war in Israel, I decided to focus on creating a positive game experience and bring joy to our audience, and Bolt Riley does that with a story of peace, love, and of friendship.”
The Kickstarter campaign ends on August 8th. The game will be released by April 20, 2015.
