A new and improved version of the original Trine, remade using the Trine 2 engine, from indie developer Frozenbyte

Trine is a beautiful fantasy action platformer with a fairytale atmosphere, following the journey of three heroes – a Wizard, a Knight and a Thief – in a quest to save the kingdom from evil.

The gameplay is based on fully interactive physics. Each character’s different abilities and tactics can be used to invent new ways to battle an army of undead, overcome obstacles, and restore the balance of the world.

Frozenbyte CEO, Mr. Lauri Hyvärinen: “We’ve sold over 6 million copies of the Trine series so far, and we just passed the five year anniversary mark of the original Trine‘s release. So we wanted to give something back to our fans with this update by improving the game, and finally bringing it to Linux as well. We’ve also heard a lot of requests for Trine from console owners, so we’re happy to announce that we’re bringing Trine Enchanted Edition also to Wii U and PS4.”

Trine Enchanted Edition has dazzling new visual effects, includes online multiplayer and mid-level saving, and has received a number of other gameplay updates and fixes. On PC and Mac, the Enchanted Edition will include the original Trine.

  • Three heroes – the Wizard, the Thief and the Knight, each with unique abilities and personalities.
  • Online and local co-op with up to three players.
  • Fully interactive game world with realistic physics.
  • Numerous skills and abilities to solve puzzles in different play styles.
  • 15 challenging and carefully designed levels, each with a distinctly unique atmosphere and visual style

Trine Enchanted Edition for PC will be a free update to existing Trine owners (the original Trine will remain playable). This will be followed by releases on Mac, Linux, Wii U and Playstation 4 later in 2014.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal.
