Elite: Dangerous to offer Oculus Rift Support
Frontier Developments will provide this version free-of-charge to all backers having proper headsets
Kickstarter-funded Elite: Dangerous is the latest installment of a long series of epic space games starting with Elite, one of the most successful games of the 1980s.
Take a ship and 100 credits to make money legally or illegally. Carve your own path through the richest, largest gaming sandbox ever created set against a backdrop of anarchy, power-plays and intrigue.
What you do is up to you. Trade for profit between systems. Participate in co-op missions, free-for-all group battles and team raids. Or simply explore the wonders of the galaxy.
Oculus Rift, designed for immersive gaming, is a perfect way to intensify the Elite: Dangerous experience.
According to David Braben, CEO of Frontier: “We’ve been playing with the Oculus Rift dev kits and are excited about the potential – just glancing around your cockpit or being totally immersed in a space battle. Many of our backers have made it clear that they would like Oculus Rift support – and so do we! We’re very pleased with the results so far.”
Elite: Dangerous will be released in 2014.
