Caribbean Treasure is a cute little freebie adventure in which you control an animated character (seen above). Your goal is to find the hidden treasure on the island, going though a variety of inventory puzzles. There is only one true puzzle at the end of the game, but it is pretty rudimentary. The story and characters aren’t well-developed, but that’s to be expected from such a short game. You’re an explorer who has traveled to this island in search of treasure. The island was once a tourist spot, but the island was rife with danger and the people left. Sure enough, there are plenty of ways to die in this game, especially if you don’t act fast enough. Luckily, the tasks to overcome the handful of monsters in this game are not difficult, and if you die the game restores automatically to a safe point immediately before.

The only thing that troubled me was the navigation. The left mouse button is used to interact with hotspots. Easy enough. You also use the right mouse button to walk the character from place to place, but it is awkward and difficult to use, since the character doesn’t always respond to the cues to move to the next screen. It turns into a click-fest trying to get from screen to screen. This is probably a fault with the creation program, Klik & Play. Thankfully there is a magic map on this island that allows travel from area to area easily.

Overall, this game is not particularly exciting, but if you have a thing for playing every adventure game known to man, then you should give this one a shot. Otherwise, leave it be and wait for better free adventures (reviews coming soon). In the meantime, post a message or two on the JA Forum and talk about adventure games!
