We thought it would be fun to review some of the casual games we currently have available in our JA Casual Game Center. Needless to
say, these games are very addictive and while our enthusiastic reviews
are, for the most part short, the time spent playing these games
is not. Once you have read the review, drop by the JA Casual Game
Center and download a free trial version of the game for yourself,
but remember – you have been warned!
Turbo
Subs marks the return of Rebecca and Robert from the
hit game Turbo
Pizza. Here, they open sub shops in three NYC locations:
a subway car, a Coney Island carousel and (get this) the Statue of
Liberty’s torch.
This game offers the same
high-quality look and sound as its predecessor, but it’s a lot more
challenging and has some new elements. If Turbo Subs doesn’t give
you an adrenaline rush — particularly toward the end of its 60 levels
— you’re probably dead.
The
game’s subs are similar in appearance making it easy to mistake one
for another, especially at first. Customers can also request condiments
and toasted subs. Some place double orders.
When juggling several sub
orders at once it’s easy to mess things up. Many levels also feature
a thief who tries to steal tips from the counter. Advanced levels
can make insane demands and move at breakneck speeds.
All of this can definitely
turn strategy to chaos. Once things start going wrong, it can be hard
to recover. A few stumbles can cost you an entire level.
As
a break from the stress, you’ll encounter six hidden object minigames.
They aren’t especially difficult and yield extra money for each item
you find, even if you don’t find them all.
I found Turbo
Subs to be fun but quite intense; I can only recommend
it to time-management game veterans. If you’re a novice, I suggest
starting with the kinder, gentler Turbo
Pizza and working your way up.
