As Rune Rescue begins, you learn that the thieves are on the move
and their truck has been spotted! Your task is to stop them by matching
(and thereby removing) pairs of colorful rune stones that advance
from bottom to top in the bed of the thieves’ truck.

Players can choose between three different modes of gameplay. The
most elaborate is Quest, in which one is taken to nine exotic locations,
each with 10 levels and a Bonus Game. Some locations yield valuable
magic items as well.

Rune Rescue screenshot - click to enlargeQuest mode also offers a slider with which players can control speed:
go faster for an adrenaline rush, or use a slower setting to relax
and enjoy the show! This feature also means that no one need become
permanently stuck or repeatedly crash and burn. As such, it is most
welcome. Unlike some casual games, Rune Rescue plays fair!

Then there’s Arcade mode, which has 30 increasingly difficult levels,
and The Grand, which consists of one huge level and a whopping 1,000
rune stones.

Rune Rescue features an abundance of dazzling, customizable effects
that make it an absolute feast for the eyes and ears. One of the
game’s locations — Area 51 — is quite the mind-blower!

Rescue
offers something for
just about everyone. No matter what kind of casual gamer you are,
it will definitely give you a run for your money and plenty of bang
for your buck!

(Note: In the interest of full disclosure, it was this reviewer’s
pleasure to have been a Rune Rescue Beta tester.)
