Eike Kusch is walking through the quiet German town of Lebensbaum when he is suddenly struck and loses consciousness. He awakens in a strange room filled with bizarre objects, where a voice named Homunculus tells him he has been stabbed to death.

Homunculus gives Eike a time-travelling device and sends him back to life shortly before the murder. From there, Eike must race against time to prevent his death and alter the course of events.

To change what is happening, he travels as far back as the 16th century, meets people connected to his own existence, and tries to reshape reality.
