Brian Basco sets off from New York to California, planning to make a quick stop at a bookstore to pick up a book.
On the way, he narrowly avoids running over a fleeing girl, who then blacks out. Brian takes her to the hospital and learns that her name is Gina Timmins.
He finds out that Gina witnessed a Mafia murder. After saving her from the killers, Brian also has to run away.
