Pendulo
describes Runaway: A Road Adventure as a classical cartoon-style adventure
with impressive visual appearance. This will be achieved through a sophisticated
post-production process that will flawlessly combine 2D and 3D images in a style
that has never been seen before. The player will find full character shading that
will adapt to the surroundings, the highest resolution ever used in a graphic
adventure game (1024×768 in 16 bits), 30 minutes of high-quality cartoons,
continuous camera changes with panoramic and wide-screen shots that will activate
while the player is exploring different locations, over 100 different settings,
and 50 strongly individual characters. And the icing on what may be an already
perfect cake is the original soundtrack: a mixture of Garbage and Sheryl Crow.

The
player will meet with some absolutely wild and unruly characters: a knife-throwing
Mafia hitman, a 100-year-old Native American, and an intoxicated Hispanic holy
person, just to name a few. All of them will possess a high degree of AI (artificial
intelligence) that will allow them to perform as unique and evolving individuals.
Their personalities will help to make the game into an intense adult experience.
The projected audience for Runaway is teenager to adult.

Your amusement
will begin in New York in 2000. Your role is that of Brian, a relatively shallow
young man who is about to graduate from college. He is attacked by the Mafia and
he does not understand why. All he knows is that he must flee, but how to do this
is an important issue. And he is not alone in his peril. He is accompanied by
a striptease dancer. Perhaps she is a friend. Perhaps she is not.

Brian
realizes that all he can do is “run away,” but as the game progresses
his character begins to change from one that is totally self-absorbed to one that
is open to the needs of other people. The AI factor in this game will allow the
player to observe Brian and participate in a large spectrum of his emotional maturity.
He will learn that no one is what he or she seem sto be. And he will be subjected
to the effects of murder, money, ambition, religion, and lies, lies, lies …
I wonder if Brian can grow up enough to manage his situation or if the Mafia will
prevail after all. I suppose that I will have to play to find out.

Hey there. I hate to admit this but I am a "tiny" bit older than most of the Just Adventure crew. But the "JA children" are very nice to me, they speak loudly to me so that I can hear them, they type in large fonts so that I can read them, and they stopped throwing things at me when I slipped on that darn tomato. I am the grandmother of the team (3 grandsons) and I love every minute of it. I love playing computer games (90% adventure/10% strategy), writing about adventure games, exploring the Internet, and most things that are computer related. I have written articles for several other websites but my home is at JA. I live on the coast of North Carolina with my husband, our dog (Thomas) and our three cats.
