The player character is a sweepstakes winner who receives an all expenses paid holiday to the Valley of the Sparrows in Zork.
On arrival, the player discovers that the area has fallen under a dark and sinister influence and has become decayed and dysfunctional. Whole buildings have mysteriously vanished, murderous vultures infest the land, and many of the survivors have become reclusive and paranoid.
People in the valley also suffer frequent and disturbing nightmares featuring a dark being called Morphius. The player must survive numerous perils, explore the valley, investigate the source of the power affecting the land, and put a stop to it.
