The story follows Papa Doc, Jane Starling, and Blue Belly as they try to stop the resurrection of a demon god. Their enemy is Papa Doc’s treacherous wife, the Vooju witch Queen Zimbi, who is aided by the pirate crew of Greenbeard and an army of zombies.

After Zimbi captures the pirate king Flint and knocks out the three protagonists, they wake up cursed, with their souls separated from their bodies. They must find a way to recover their bodies, reattach their souls, and get a ship so they can leave Vooju Island and seek help before they are turned into zombies or lost as ghosts forever.

Later, they gather allies and use their ghostly powers to stop Greenbeard’s attack on Blue Belly’s home port. In the final part, they join forces to defeat Zimbi’s mother, Mama Malidei, and prevent the demon god’s resurrection.
