Genesys is an educational video game about the evolution of human societies around the world. It covers technological advancement from the stone age to today.

The player solves puzzles, talks to people who had an important impact on history, explores artifacts, and consults a historical database. Items are gathered through actions, stored in an inventory, and used to solve puzzles.

Most of the game uses screens similar to an encyclopedia, with some parts presented as an interactive experience. Jeanne Moreau guides the player through the game.
