In 1927, quiet scholar William H. Stanton is drawn into the occult after his childhood friend Edgar appears at his home in Providence, Rhode Island.
Edgar is distraught and delirious, and gives Stanton a metallic pyramid, warning him not to give it to anyone, especially himself. Soon after, a doctor arrives and says Edgar has lost his mind and must be institutionalized.
William suspects there is more to the story and sets out to find Edgar. Along the way, he uncovers a horrifying secret that threatens all of mankind.
