Note: It appears as though CAYNE will not be for the faint-of-heart.

CAYNE is a sci-fi/horror adventure that will take us back into the dystopian universe of STASIS. A gritty and frightening experience awaits us there.

The game started as a stretch goal in the STASIS Kicktarter campaign. It morphed into an entire standalone game that can sit proudly in the STASIS universe. And backers of STASIS will get to play CAYNE before anyone else does.

In CAYNE, you’ll meet mother-to-be Hadley, who is 9 months pregnant. She awakens in a medical facility. “They” want her baby. She needs to get away.

To that end, players will explore and interact with the environment, and use and combine items to progress deeper into the world.

The Brotherhood: While the overall CAYNE environment is smaller than STASIS, we’re trying to push the visuals into new and varied directions with a focus on both body horror and psychological terror. Ha!

CAYNE came to be developed as The Brotherhood was brainstorming ideas for an adventure game set in a post-apocalyptic world. This game was temporarily pushed aside when the story of CAYNE blossomed.

Although the game ties back to STASIS, CAYNE is self-contained; one need not have played STASIS in order to enjoy playing CAYNE, which the developer has estimated will yield 1.5 hours of gameplay.

Now that the development of CAYNE is winding down, The Brotherhood has returned to the post-apocalyptic game. It’s called BEAUTIFUL DESOLATION. Info about this game can be found here.

CAYNE will be released January 27, 2017 on Steam  for Windows, Mac and Linux. And don’t forget: it’s free.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
