Beholder Has Been Released on Steam
Enter a grim, dystopian future courtesy of Alawar Entertainment and Warm Lamp Games
Beholder Will See Steam this Fall – October 6, 2016
Welcome to a world where surveillance is total and privacy is dead.
Inspired heavily by George Orwell’s groundbreaking 1984, Beholder presents a narrative in which a totalitarian regime controls every facet of private and public life.
Step into the shoes of Carl, a landlord who works for The State. Your job is to spy on your tenants. Eavesdrop, set wiretaps and cameras, search apartments and report all illegal activities.
That’s what you’re supposed to do, anyway. But will you?
Every decision you make will have consequences — sometimes, disastrous ones. There are no easy choices here. Is it really up to you to decide what someone else deserves? What if two people deserve to be saved but one has to go? How do you decide which one?
Each character in Beholder is fully developed with its own personality, past and present. This results in an intricate web of relationships in which you’ll participate and, in essence, creates one big puzzle.
Evgeny Sister, Producer, Alawar: Beholder models a totalitarian State in a bleak dystopian future, where the player’s moral compass will be rigorously tested. The State’s instructions are clear: report on any suspicious behavior. But what do you do when those actions threaten to leave two children fatherless? The game is filled with decisions like these where there is no right answer – only what feels right to the player.
Beholder has multiple endings, depending on your choices. You’ll be given enough information to make wise decisions, but there might be things about which you’re unaware that will impact what you’ve decided.
The game is now available on Steam for Windows, Mac and Linux. A 20% discount is in effect until November 16th.
