In Yore VR, players start in a serene forest surrounded by lush trees. A nearby village plays host to several activities including archery practice, blacksmithing and smelting. From there, you choose your own journey.

Explore the game’s beautiful open world at your leisure. Perhaps you’ll stumble upon forgotten ruins, explore a nearby cave or find lost treasure in the hidden depths of a dungeon. At the end of the day, you might just want to lay down next to a lazy stream to listen to the sounds of birds overhead.

Yore VR is not about escaping everyday life, it’s about discovering a simpler one.

Gather resources, go mining, do some lumberjacking, engage in smelting and blacksmithing. Activities have been created to simulate actual historical procedures.

The weapons in Yore VR include bows, crossbows, and bladed and bludgeoning weapons. All have been developed under the guidance of medieval weapons experts to be as authentic as possible.

Perhaps one of the best things about the game is that you can wander around without losing your lunch. A custom movement system has been developed for the game that will greatly reduce motion sickness.

Ryan Wiancko, Managing Director, Ironbelly Studios: We have been working with indie developers for years to offer our services at affordable prices in order to level the playing field with larger studios. We aim to bring this efficiency as well as a long history of working with Unreal 4 and VR into the development process in order to help deliver the first open world sandbox game built from the ground for VR.

TectonicVR is a small studio established in 2016. Yore VR is its first title.

The game is currently available for Windows in Steam Early Access. The developers have issued the following disclaimer (caps are theirs):
THIS GAME IS IN EARLY ACCESS AND REQUIRES A HTC VIVE TO PLAY. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU HAVE A VIVE AND WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME AND ARE PREPARED TO HANDLE A FEW ISSUES.

And there you have it.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
