In COLUMNAE, you’ll find a world ruined by a gradual environmental catastrophe. Its story focuses on a society descended from people unable to afford to inhabit Deus, the closed “city in the clouds,” built on gigantic metal pillars called Columnae.
Lying beneath Columnae is a vast underground machine that extracts, processes and sends resources directly up to Deus. Those who occupy the columns live in a society that’s corrupt, poverty-ridden and locked a power struggle.
Along with classic adventure features, COLUMNAE introduces the concept of retrocausality which allows the player to affect not only the future but also the past of the main character and the world surrounding him. Rather than chronologically, the game’s eight chapters are presented in a sequence that reflects the consequences of the player’s choices.
COLUMNAE has been Greenlit, and Windows (English and German) and Mac versions of a playable demo may be downloaded from the Kickstarter page.
Developer Moonburnt Studio asks that you please consider backing COLUMNAE, which is currently at 89% of its base goal with approximately 33 hours left in the campaign. If things go according to plan, the full game is scheduled to be released early in 2018 for PC, Mac and Linux.
