Epocylipse the AfterFall: A Different Kind of RPG
Razor Edge Games asks: Are you skilled enough to survive when humanity falls?
Epocylipse the AfterFall will be a new and different kind of RPG experience. Developer Razor Edge Games is looking to break from the “kill everything you see” mentality that has dominated the genre, and is including all sorts of interesting and unusual features.
The game begins 60 years after Earth has been hit by an asteroid: this one, actually (link supplied by developer ). Civilization has collapsed. Those who have remained alive must fight, scavenge, struggle and kill in order to survive. Among the inhabitants will be feral humans, mutated insects and toxic plants.
Epocylipse will be a non-linear, open world RPG with emphasis on character development. The environment will cycle through dawn, dusk, daylight and night. You’ll see your character age. Every choice you make for yourself will be final.
Life in the AfterFall is very unforgiving and the game will be hardcore. Death will mean something; there will be no reloading a saved game. You won’t be a hero. You’ll have enough to do trying to stay alive, and how you pull it off will be up to you.
Mike Weiser, founder of Razor Edge Games: Early in 2006 I decided to start to write a game that I could play solo or with friends, but also have an unending campaign that would allow me to play on even if they couldn’t join me for specific play sessions. I wanted to design an RPG I always wanted to play, one that allowed me to experience the same feeling I had while playing a traditional table top game but without the need for a game master.
No videos or screenshots are currently available; meanwhile, have a look at some of the game’s concept art. Epocylipse is being developed for PC/Windows. Needless to say (but I’ll say it anyway), a release date is TBD.
