Layers of Fear invites you into a house of horrors and wants nothing more than to turn you into a babbling fool.
Things actually start out rather pleasantly. The house is beautiful, with architecture and décor reminiscent of the 19th century. As you explore its interior, however, you’ll uncover details of the game’s backstory and descend into hallucinatory hell.
As your surroundings distort, shift and rearrange themselves around you, disturbing noises will assault your ears, paintings will melt into grotesqueness and you’ll delve deeply into the mind of an artist who is clearly insane.
The visions, fears and horrors that engulf the artist’s mind will be revealed to you. And you must finish the artistic masterpiece he has strived so long to create.
Elizabeth Howard, VP of Publishing, Aspyr Media: As soon as we got our hands on the game via Steam Early Access and saw the ravenous community feedback, we wanted to be a part of sharing this game with the world. Many game developers pour their blood, sweat and tears into creating great games, but the folks at Bloober Team brought a new meaning to this term while creating Layers of Fear. It’s truly been a blast working with a group so dedicated to the craft of beautifully scaring the sh!t out of people, and adding in our own flavor of insanity.
Piotr Babieno, CEO, Bloober Team: We can’t wait to finally show the world the full scope of our masterpiece of fear. And we’re glad that there are other people who share our enthusiasm. Working with Aspyr is pure pleasure! They immediately got what we were trying to achieve with Layers of Fear and happily dived into our world of madness.
Layers of Fear will be released February 16, 2016 on Windows, PC, Mac, Linux, Xbox One and PS4. Sweet dreams, y’all…
