If you’re suddenly able to walk on walls and ceilings as you’re pursued by monsters, you’ve either lost your mind or you’re playing DARQ

Step into the shoes of Lloyd, a young boy who experiences a lucid dream that turns into a nightmare from which he’s unable to escape.  You’ll survive by bending the laws of physics and manipulating the fluid fabric of the dream world.

Sound is an important aspect of DARQ. Portions of the game take place in total darkness with sound as your only means of navigation.

The game is designed to be a moving artistic experience. Its unique art style combines 2D and 3D graphics in a juxtaposition of opposites such as beauty and horror, elegance and roughness.

The main component of DARQ‘s gameplay is light. In fact, light and shadow are practically the game’s main character.

The game’s enemies are stronger than Lloyd, who has no chance of winning an open confrontation. Instead, detection must be avoided through stealth and planning.

DARQ has numerous jump-scares, but they’re never gratuitous. Each fits into the story, and Unfold Games is working hard to avoid making them cheesy or conventional.

An IndieGoGo campaign with a base goal of $20,000 is underway and your backing would be appreciated. A Greenlight campaign is also in progress.

DARQ is to be released on PC/Windows, Mac and Linux at a date TBD.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
