Admit it: you’ve always wanted to attend the end of the world. Project 37 will enable you to experience it multiple times. You won’t, however, have to shoot anyone, fend off zombies, aimlessly walk hither and yon or survive against ridiculous odds.
Several playthroughs of the game will be required to appreciate the entire story. In each playthrough, you’ll have seven in-game days to discover as much as possible before you — along with everything else in the game — turn into toast.
The story of Project 37 concerns Artificial Intelligence and what can happen if it’s developed without proper controls and subsequently runs amuck.
Say hello to the island to NewHaven, to which you’ve been summoned. Your task is to gather information about what prompted your colleagues — who have been researching technological defense — to send several distress calls. Apparently, something has gone very wrong.
In the end, you’ll have to decide which is more important: mankind or technology.
The game is set in a living, breathing world in which every experience is different. It will present randomized weather, events and scenarios.
Developer RW Bivins intends to also release a standalone DLC pack offering the first open-world Easter Egg hunt, featuring real Easter Eggs. It will include hidden pop culture and technology non “egg” references as well.
Today is Saturday April 25th, 2048. Your name is Jeremy Walker. Welcome to NewHaven and your first row seat to the end of everything you know.
Project 37 will be released on PC, Mac and Linux; console support may be added at a later date. The game will be DRM-free and will include support for Oculus Rift (although the game will be playable without it).
A Kickstarter campaign with a base goal $3000 has been launched for Project 37. It runs until November 25th. Your backing would be appreciated.
