Wailing Heights Descends Long Enough to Release an Announcement Trailer and Showcase It at EGX
Here we have a "coffin-rocking, body-hopping, musical adventure game" from indie developer Outsider Games
You are Frances Finklestein. For 50 years, you managed the Deadbeats, the greatest rock band in the history of Great Britain. But alas, the band members are all dead now and, as the game begins, you find yourself in…er…prison, in a town no one’s ever heard of: Wailing Heights.
Wailing Heights is actually a peaceful country village populated by not-so-classic monsters: vegan werewolves, hipster vampires, soul-singing zombies and all manner of civic-minded taxpaying ghostly inhabitants. It’s a town that has little use for the living.
From a cryptic cellmate, you learn how to “bodyhop” — a skill that enables you to leave your body and jump from ghost to vampire to zombie to werewolf. This might be a way for you to escape!
So a-hopping you go, and…what? You find that the members of the Deadbeats are here as well! They’ve not only returned in undead condition, they want to get back together!
The story of Wailing Heights was written by Kevin Beimers of indie developer Italic Pig, who has also worked on Hector: Badge of Carnage and Schrödinger’s Cat and the Raiders of the Lost Quark .
Wailing Heights‘ developer Outsider Games was formed in 2011 by Stephen Downey and Scott Grandison. The studio develops original properties which have included projects for the BBC and Lionsgate Films.
Wailing Heights is due to be released on PC in early 2016.
