Sketch Tales Will Pencil You In for Early Access This Summer

An action/RPG sandbox from Ukrainian indie developer 8D Studio in which your drawings come to life

Do I have some videos for you…

As you may have deduced, here we have a game in which what you draw is what you play; where doodling is magic and imagination is a superpower.

In Sketch Tales, you’ll create weapons, creatures (with their own AI), buildings and what-have-you. See it all come alive before your eyes.

Drawing not your bag? No problem. Ready-made art is available in-game. Or, you may surprise yourself and get in touch with your art-power. Everyone has some, you know…

Set in a black-and-white world — all colors have been stolen by a nasty villain — it’s your task to retrieve them and return them to the local folk. So arm yourself with imagination and get moving. You can even detour from your story-driven adventure to change the world according to your own fantasies.

You will have total freedom of action; if you don’t want to be a hero, be something else: a wanderer, creator, slaughterer, whatever. You’ll communicate and trade with NPCs and experience realistic physics. The game will support single-player and cross-platform multiplayer.

Do you think videogames aren’t art? Think again… (Sketch Tales = Minecraft + Microsoft Paint?? MineSoftCraft Paint!)

This game looks like a real hoot!

Sketch Tales is slated for release on Steam Early Access in summer 2015 for PC, Mac and Linux, with a full release in 2016.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
