In Deadwood: The Forgotten Curse — which has a unique survival twist — you’ll play a teenage “woodling” and inventor called Lathe. Along with a stone giant named Roguard, you must fight back hordes of wooden zombies known as “The Deadwood” and stop their curse from spreading through the land of Knottington.

During the day, Roguard will protect you. But at night, diminutive little you must protect your huge, hulking companion, who goes to sleep when it gets dark. (I wonder when you get to sleep? I mean, there’s an adventure to be had!)

Keith Lackey, Technical Supervisor at Steamroller Studios: “Everyone here at Steamroller Studios is super excited to be partnering with Team17. We’ve been huge fans of them since the beginning, and so when we found out the feeling was mutual, we jumped at the chance to work with them. With their experience and support we’ll be free to do what we do best, which is to make an awesome game. The passion they’ve shown for our game is only matched by our own. We’re confident that together we’ll make Deadwood: The Forgotten Curse the game we’ve always wanted to make.”

Debbie Bestwick, Team17’s Managing Director: “Team17 has a long-standing reputation with gamers around the globe, and we work hard to uphold their expectations as we continue to expand our award-winning indie label. Steamroller Studios is such an incredibly creative and talented team that we’re not only excited to be working with them on Deadwood: The Forgotten Curse, but also, to welcome them as the first US-based addition to Team17’s indie label.”

Deadwood ‘s Kickstarter campaign, which will run until May 14, 2015, has already achieved its base goal plus two stretch goals.  There are additional goals, however, so please grab some money, take it here and drop it off. The game has already been Greenlit.

DRM-free versions as well as a Steam Keys will be available for PC, Mac and Linux. A firm release date is TBD.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
