Project Scissors: NightCry is a horror adventure that started out as a game for iOS, Vita and Android. But after funding was secured for these platforms, it became clear that a PC version would be essential to satisfy fans; hence, the Kickstarter campaign.

Onboard are Hifumi Kono, creative force behind the Clock Tower series and founder of indie studio Nude Maker, as project director; and Takashi Shimizu, director of the feature films The Grudge, The Gruge 2 and Ju-on: The Grudge, as co-creator.

Shimizu-san is also responsible for the truly bizarre teaser film below. I don’t recommend it for those who are squeamish or easily unnerved.

Also on the team are Masahiro Ito (Art Director/Creature Designer, Silent Hill series); Kiyoshi Arai (Concept Artist, Final Fantasy III, XII and XIV); composer Nobuko Toda (Metal Gear Solid series, Halo 4, Final Fantasy XIV) and composer Michiru Yamane (Castlevania series, Suikoden III). And that’s only part of the talent that’s been assembled to bring us Project Scissors: NightCry.

The game, which features multiple endings, takes place on a luxurious cruise ship where something bad is happening. People are being murdered.

The living start to suspect each other. The cries of a baby echo throughout the ship. You are completely cut off from the outside world. You must find the killer. Your actions will dictate who lives and who dies.

Nude Maker is looking to raise at least $300,000 by February 23rd. From the Kickstarter page: NightCry will scare your socks off even if we’re only able to make the minimum goal, but there’s so much more we have ideas for!

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
