In the wake of its successful Kickstarter campaign, indie developer GRIN Studios is barrelling down the home stretch with its first PC title, Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries. Volume 1 of this two-volume game has just been released on Steam Early Access. Have a look at the announcement trailer:

Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries is a non-sugarcoated steampunk fairy tale full of drama and dark twists. A vengeful Red Riding Hood confronts her nightmares and demons in a dark sidescroller odyssey.

You’ll find winks to familiar fairy tales in Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries, as well as visual elements reminiscent of masters such as Tim Burton and Anthon Pieck. The game takes its inspiration from story elements in the original, more gruesome, pre-Grimm versions of Little Red Riding Hood.

GRIN’s founder and CEO Wim Wouters: The team at GRIN has been working hard on the game and we’re looking forward to receiving valuable player feedback through Early Access so that we can deliver an exciting experience that Red would be proud of.

As mentioned, the current game represents Volume 1. Early Access applies to this volume only, as does the release date of March 17, 2015.

In the second volume, Red’s journey will continue. However, each volume will also stand on its own.

Volume 2 is scheduled for release on PC in August 2015. GRIN also plans to release Woolfe: The Red Hood Diaries on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One later this year.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal.
