Waking the Glares is a journey for players who love games that tell great stories.

In this journey the player, as lost wanderer Dawnfall, travels in a fragmented universe where time and space are twisted. He meets a mysterious voice that will guide him through seven different worlds, each with a unique atmosphere and personality, and with slightly different gameplay.

The story of Waking the Glares revolves around the writing of a book. All the things that will happen to Dawnfall will happen because this book has been written, and only through the full understanding of its story will our hero will find his way back home.

From the beginning of development, Waking the Glares has been planned for Oculus Rift compatibility. However, the game is being designed in such a way that it may be enjoyed to the fullest without the use of VR hardware.

Key features:

  • Exploration-based gameplay that will require attention to the environment from a visual and acoustic point of view
  • A variety of settings (seven different worlds)
  • Great story with no plot holes, where every single element in the game has a reason to be there
  • Three different levels of narration: the game, the mysterious book and…the player will discover the third one
  • Oculus Rift compatibility

Waking the Glares will be released on Windows, Mac and Linux at a date TBD. A Greenlight campaign is in progress.

A Kickstarter campaign with a base goal of €30,000 will run until December 24, 2014. Please consider offering your support.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
