With Resurrection, CNS Games is looking to create “the next big name in the Zombie Genre” by combining a first-person shooter with a third-person RPG.
The game takes place in the present. The CDC has developed a biological weapon that puts people in a vegetable-like state and renders them completely controllable, removing the need for firepower or other methods of “persuasion.” The weapon works perfectly and everyone is happy. Until…
Uh-oh. There’s an accident at the CDC that results in a raging conflagration, and all facilities go up in smoke. Poof. Oh, and every virus known to exist is unleashed onto an unsuspecting world. Oops.
Cutting to the chase, people who are infected by breathing in every virus in existence mixed together go crazy, won’t stay dead and enjoy dining on fresh, uninfected humans — survivors who are immune to the scourge.
But wait — there’s more. The survivors try their best to fight back by debilitating the crazies/zombies as best they can, then burning the bodies. Unfortunately, burning them just turns them into something worse:
The sulfur from the smoke and flames mixed with the airborne virus made these undead creatures extremely fast, extremely strong and extremely hungry. We soon found out that the only way to kill any of them was to destroy the brain functions.
Some days, you just can’t win. And this is where you, the player, enter this apocalyptic tale.
A former member of Special Ops, you are immune to the virus. Scientists are able to transform you into a cyborg: half man, half advanced technology. A savior. Your mission is to seek out those who can cure the malady that plagues humankind.
You even know where they are. You just have to get there.
Resurrection will most likely start out on PC and Mac, then move on to Xbox 360, Xbox One and possibly Playstation.
Meanwhile, CNS Games is looking to raise $15,000 on Kickstarter by December 20, 2014. If the idea of a different kind of zombie game is appealing, please consider backing Resurrection.
