Deathtrap Early Access Trailer – October 17, 2014
Deathtrap: Monster Training Academy Episode I Teaser and Screens – August 8, 2014

Deathtrap promises to deliver exciting features players have been longing to see in this genre. Choose from three game modes (PvP, Single Player, Cooperative Campaign), create your own maps and monsters, share them with your friends and get ready for a game of vicious tricks, killing machines, rotating blades, splattering blood…and cuteness.

Here are some details:

  • A truly unique mixture of tower-defense and action-RPG
  • Defeat the hordes in an incredible single player campaign
  • Team up with other heroes and save the world together
  • Go PvP: the defender prepares traps and defensive tactics, while the attacker has the ability to possess and control directly any creature in his or her army and employ skills to weaken the opponent or boost the invaders
  • An integrated Map Editor and Monster Editor that allows creation of user-generated content
  • Share your deadly, cunning levels and challenging mini-campaigns with others
  • Destructive spells and deadly mechanisms to smash, freeze, burn and otherwise turn the enemy into tiny, bloody pieces
  • Gain exclusive loot by finding hidden corners on the maps and hunting down neutral creatures hiding away from battle
  • Solve rewarding side quests
  • Choose from 3 diverse classes (Mercenary, Sorceress, Marksman); each class offers different tactics, skills and powers with which to dispatch enemies
  • Extended and detailed character development offers 100 levels to achieve and more than 50 skills per class
  • Fend off invaders with 25 deadly traps and more than 150 trap upgrades as well as very special upgrades tied to challenging and fun achievements
  • Enter a truly grim fantasy netherworld. The Ink — the mysterious otherworld encountered in the Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing games — has hidden regions and ancient secrets; now you can face what is waiting in those depths
  • Detailed equipment mechanics and a comprehensive loot system make your inventory highly customizable
  • Invaders come in 3 races and more than 40 different types; the countless combination of monster abilities will make the invading swarms even more colorful
  • Artifact-crafting offers new ways to experiment with lethal magical items
  • Leaderboards and a rank system permits competition with other players

Early Access, commencing October 22nd,  will be for Windows and Mac. Xbox One and PS4 will be available at a later date.

I've been with JA in one capacity or other since 2003. I'm currently website administrator. I'm also a digital artist (my avatar is one of my creations). I write reviews and articles, create graphics and basically help tend the site. It's work I enjoy very much. I love playing games of all kinds, but adventure and RPGs are my favorites (particularly scary/dark/unsettling ones). At the top of my list are The Cat Lady, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Still Life (first one only), Scratches and Culpa Innata. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool recluse and prefer the company of animals, hardware and ghosts to human beings (no offense). And no bio would be complete without my saying that I do NOT care for phones of ANY sort. Further, I think Dell computers are garbage and that Microsoft has become megalomaniacal. "I put my heart and soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process." - Vincent Van Gogh "I need solitude for my writing; not like a hermit - that wouldn't be enough - but like a dead man." - Franz Kafka "I've been to hell and back, my boy." - Susan Ashworth, The Cat Lady
