Retro World Aims for Late 2014 Release with Crowdfunding
Relive your gaming childhood as a retro sprite in an action/adventure.
Scary Pixel announced today that they have teamed up with former LucasArt talent to release an adventure game that is based around gaming itself. Titled Retro World, players will be able to go back to their younger years and experience their gaming adventure through attending midnight game launches, tournaments, reading game magazines and more.
The storyline through Retro World has players playing, collecting, trading and selling games and systems through four console generations while trying to figure out why games are coming to life.
Currently there is a Kickstarter for Retro World and is aiming for a$175,000 goal, with the game’s release for December 2014 if all goes according to plan. The game will be available for Windows, Mac, and Linux systems.
Additional features:
- A stylized look that’s heavily inspired by the Earthbound/Mother series using 2D pixel art in a full 3D open world.
- 1-4 players (co-op or competitive) based on the console or arcade game being played
- Attend midnight game launches, tournaments, read in game magazines for tips, tricks and reviews.
- Experience 30 years of gaming evolution through dozens of titles from the early pong days to the modern games of today.
