InterWorks Unlimited, a multi-platform gaming accessory developer, announced today an accessory for the soon-to-be-released Xbox One. This accessory isn’t to make you have an easier time playing games, or perhaps have a mounting point for your game wheels; it’s a privacy cover for the Kinect 2.

The team at InterWorks worked with Microsoft to make sure that the cover fits precisely for the Kinect 2 so that it won’t damage or hinder its operation. The device simply operates by having the user slide the panel over the camera, allowing for privacy mode. The device is also touted to provide protection to the Kinect 2’s camera from dust, fingerprints, and scratches.

The Kinect 2 comes standard with the Xbox One and features an always-listening option so that players don’t need to get up from the couch to turn on their system. While there have been concerns over the “spying” aspect of the Kinect 2, Microsoft has stated that the option for always-listening can be turned off fully, but that some games will require the Kinect 2 to be on to play.

The Xbox One Privacy Cover can be purchased for $20 and customers can order it now to receive it before getting their Xbox One.
