Dex – Harbor Prime Trailer, Screens and Features – December 12, 2013

 

Developer Dreadlocks started a Kickstarter for Dex, a side-scrolling cyberpunk action/stealth game that aims to bring a “fresh new vision of cyberspace”. 

 

The storyline is set in Harbor Prime and cyberspace, with an AI aiming to reach the “Singularity”, a theoretical “event horizon” in which artificial intelligence will surpass human intelligence, leading to a new future in which the machines rule over the fleshy skinbag humans.

Dex will feature multiple solutions to problems, which can be solved in cyberspace or normal reality, along with unique hacking mechanics. Players will also be able to make meaningful character progression choices: be a silent assassin, a talented hacker, a gunfighter, etc. The story is also inspired by the cyberpunk novels of William Gibson and others, creating a unique setting for players to explore. Dex will also feature hand-drawn locations, and will also be entirely DRM-free.

 

Dex is aiming to release on Windows PC, Mac, Linux, and Ouya systems. There is no release date set yet.
